get to know me
Welcome to my digital space. The first question you probably have for me is how I came up with “bby blu film”? Simply put, one of my closest friends coined the nickname “baby blue” for me. It became a staple of a big emotional shift in my life. It was at a time when I was coming more into my creativity and finding my true path in life.
I have been a natural creative for as long as I can remember - crafting, creating, and dreaming. From early childhood, photography and videography were my chosen ways of expression. I was the girl who would force her friends to come over after school, put the most horrendous makeup on them, dress them up, and have a Polaroid photo shoot on the front lawn. I was so committed to this craft that I even vowed to work for my mom for an entire year to save up enough money to buy my first DSLR.
My passion for film photography emerged further in my early twenties. I was purchasing multiple disposable cameras at the time in order to have printed pictures to album just like my parents. There was nothing, and still is nothing, better than coming together over a box of old film photos and reminiscing about those times. When the pandemic hit, I found myself with a lot of free time, so I got my first SLR, and as cliche as it sounds, the rest was history.
Super 8 videography was a completely different path of discovery for me. My friends had been planning to gift me a vintage Super 8 camera for my birthday. They lugged it to the Portuguese Islands in hopes they had all that they needed to surprise me. As it turned out the camera worked and we got to shooting! So, there I was on a European island shooting Super 8 for the first time. It was a magical experience. Feelings of nostalgia and gratitude filled me as I shot my first roll. (check out that video on my personal Super 8 portfolio)
I can’t even begin to explain the importance that photos and videos hold. They are snippets of time; the photos that you, your family, kids, grandkids and friends will look back on to remember special times in your life.
I specialize in documentary-style photography that allows for emotion and intention to be felt through the photo and video. It is more of a storytelling style rather then a posed and intentional style. This style may seem daunting, but not to worry, I will work to direct you and make you feel comfortable during the process.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading! I vow to capture your special moments as if they were my own. I look forward to speaking to you soon!

Without getting too technical, I find that film provides a far more forgiving photo as opposed to digital. The light, colours and contrasts are very hard to produce on a digital camera without a simulation or filter. In my experience, film photos tend to need less editing as they easily portray a warm and dreamy feel.

Film photography holds such a nostalgic and dreamy feel. Unlike everything in today’s day and age, it forces you to slow down and really capture the moment. Waiting for your photos to come back rather than seeing them on a screen in the moment, creates a bond between the client and shooter. It allows the client to put all your trust into the vision and the photographers eye.

Super 8 videography is film but in motion. It is another extremely forgiving medium that captures dreamlike quality frame for frame. The client tends to love the sound of the camera and the feel of being in front of it.

Unfortunately, the film is a test of patience. Unlike a digital camera, the film in my camera is shot on a film roll. The photos are only available after they are taken out of the canister and developed. Although, I promise it’s worth the wait.

Documentation and archiving memories through photo and video has to be where my passion comes from. Documenting moments in a way where you can look back and feel what you felt from that moment in your life is what I strive to produce in every photo.

Photos and videos are tangible and physical moments of the past. Investing in a capturer who is passionate and invested in this art is vital for having these tangible moments archived.
